The school day begins when the pedestrian gates open at 8:45 am. Senior staff are on duty at the gate (at which time the vehicular access gate to the school car park is closed and remains so until the end of the school day). Chldren go straight to their classroom – staff are at the class gates to greet children in Reception and Class 1.
We have a mid-morning break between 10.30 am and 10.50 am and a lunch-break between 12.00 pm and 1.00 pm.
Afternoon school ends at 3.15 pm and Activity Clubs normally end between 3.45 pm and 4:15 pm. The school gates are not open before 3:10. Children in Reception Class, Years 1 and 2 are collected from their classroom. Children in Years 3 to 6 are collected from the KS2 playground. Years 5 and 6 are able to walk home unaccompanied provided that we have received parental consent to do so.
During the mid-morning break children supervised in the playground by teachers and teaching assistants. During the lunch hour they are looked after by mid-day supervisors and teaching assistants, under the direction of the headteacher.
In a typical week, this equates to 32.5 hours.
